New people most often come into the community through friends. This web site is a new way for people to find out that we exist. As a community, we do not proselytize, and we are not looking for converts. We do open the door, however, and if you find things here that fit your spiritual path, then welcome! If not, that's fine too, and we wish you luck in your journey. If this sounds of interest to you, write to us, and we can set up a meeting. Let us know a little about yourself, your experiences, what you are looking for, and how you found our address. Thanks for checking here. We hope to hear from you. Everyone in the Binghamton Pagan Community who wants to can respond to messages received at the site, so any answer you get to a message will NOT be from an ordained leader who represents the community, but from a member who represents only their own part of it.
Our variety of paganism is eclectic. There are different groups and individuals within the community that have different types of focus, but we all manage to get together and celebrate our differences and similarities with respect, openness, and fun. The community has a mix of Wiccans, Druids, Celtic, Taoism, etc. We celebrate balance.
The community events usually include a calling/recognition of sacred feminine and sacred masculine (Goddess/God), and recognition of the 4 directions. Like most things eclectic, even this is not written in stone.
We meet near the 8 sabbats of the year. (When this anwer was written, we had just had our community Samhain celebration, which is a remembrance of the dead, like Memorial day. Our meetings/celebrations happen in either a rented hall (when the weather is cold) or outside when possible. The community prefers that gatherings are only announced to those already a member. The only way to go for the first time is to be invited by someone. The person extending the invitation is responsible for their guest. If this guest comes a number of times and has made other connections, then they maybe asked if they would like to be notified of upcoming times and places of celebration.
